For maker faire 2013, Wizard designed and built a 10 foot tall harmonograph. Collin martindale helped him assemble the structure. The harmonograph draws large spiral patterns on the orbiting table with a pen that is also moving. The two long pendulum arms drive the pen and the shorter pendulum drives the table. The relationships of their frequencies make different patterns. The harmony 2:3 draws a 5 petal shape and the harmony 2:1 makes a 3 petal shape. There are many harmonic ratios achievable with a taller harmonograph because the tall pendulums swing very slowly. The paper blew away often the first day so the second day a circular dry erase board was used to make the drawings on.
